Accelerated Reader (AR) is a program that provides teachers and students with a great opportunity to promote reading at home and in the classroom.  Students choose a book to read or have read to them.  Once they have completed the book, they take a short multiple choice quiz on a school computer.  The computer shows the student how many questions were answered correctly and prints out a report sheet for the teacher.  Students are awarded Accelerated Reader points for the correct answers.

     In our school's library, each book that has an Accelerated Reader quiz is marked.  This lets students know that they can take an AR Reading Quiz on the book once they have finished reading the book.  There are quizzes available for hundreds of books in all grade levels.  Holy Family Catholic School has more than 3,200 quizzes available!

     The students and classroom teachers set Accelerated Reader goals for each quarter.  Please ask your child about his or her goal and encourage him or her to read at home.  By clicking on one of the links above, you will find a list of the AR Quizzes available to Holy Family students in the Holy Family computer system.
